Microsoft launched a new application storefront with Windows 8 a couple of years back, the intention was to provide developers with a robust platform to make applications for and users a one-stop destination for their app needs. Things didn’t go exactly to plan because the store ended up being filled with junk and rip-off application. This is something that Microsoft has decided to take care of before it launches Windows 10.

The company has revealed through a blog post that it intends to do away with “app clutter” in its application storefront so that the quality of apps is improved along with the user experience prior to the launch of Windows 10 this summer.

Microsoft is going to focus on ensuring that apps are appropriately priced, have relevant titles and keywords, and that informational apps are distinguished from the rest. All of these steps are going to go a long way to reduce app clutter in the Windows Store.

The company has also said that it will remove applications that “negatively impact customer experience with Windows Store,” and will be targeting applications that don’t have differentiated app icons.

So far Microsoft has not provided a confirmed release date for Windows 10 but has said that it will arrive this summer, according a recent report Windows 10 may reach PC manufacturers by July.
