Who would have thought that pouring aluminum into a ripe watermelon could have such vivid results? Well, such thoughts don’t really strike normal minds, but YouTube’s “TheBackyardScientist” did thought about experimenting this and they were equally amazed by the unexpected result.

So, what they have done is that they picked a perfectly ripe Watermelon and made a circular hole into its centre. After making the hole, they poured boiling 2,519°C aluminum right into the hole. After pulling off the stunt, experimenter can be seen standing back and waiting for the fruit to splash out and cause action, but there wasn’t any explosion. Instead, the molten aluminum mined its way inside the fruit without causing any blast.

After leaving the Watermelon to cool down, they cut it into half and the result was an anthill-type sculpture, which was made by aluminum getting coated on Watermelon’s seeds. The whole experiment produced beautiful silver sculpture made out of aluminum covered seeds.

The entire process did leave a pungent smell as we see the Florida-based experimenter complaining in the video. Even though the experiment seems pretty cool, but at the same time it is very dangerous, so we would suggest to not try it at home.
