occulus-vr-03With live streaming platforms such as Twitch and Sony’s PlayRoom, all sorts of content can be streamed and while it was meant for gaming, there more enterprising users who ended up live streaming videos of themselves performing lewd acts which led to Twitch and Sony clamping down on these videos.

Now the question is while the Oculus Rift has been designed for gaming, what if users want to use it for more adult purposes? What’s the company’s stance on that? Well for those of you who believe that such content should not be blocked or censored, you’re in luck. According to a report from Variety, the company’s founder Palmer Luckey said that they have no plans to block adult content.

Luckey was quoted as saying during a panel at the Silicon Valley Virtual Reality Conference, “The rift is an open platform. We don’t control what software can run on it, and that’s a big deal.” Of course whether or not developers or companies take advantage of the technology to build adult content that uses virtual reality remains to be seen, but we suppose at the very least it is possible and will not be blocked by Oculus.

In the meantime Oculus had previously revealed that the consumer version of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset would begin shipping to customers in Q1 2016.
