rockband-4-ps4-xbox-oneGames like Guitar Hero and Rock Band are fun to play at parties. It’s also fun to jam out individual songs which can be just as satisfying, but at the same time it is understandable that there are gamers out there who would love a good campaign/story with every game that they play.

The good news is that if you were a bit tired of Rock Band’s somewhat linear campaign in the past, you will be pleased to learn that in Rock Band 4, the folks at Harmonix have revealed some additional details about the game’s upcoming campaign which has been described as somewhat like an RPG.

According to the game’s designer Alli Thresher, “When we started looking at all the new features we have in the game, mechanically, it just made sense for us to build this epic, branching story where instead of taking one rise to fame path through the world, you know, you go from your hometown to being the biggest band in the world, you choose…what kind of band you are.”

Thresher also adds, “It really deepens the band fantasy, and it really gives us the opportunity to answer some things we’ve been hearing from fans over the last five years and really, really amp up that feeling and the fantasy and dynamics of being in a band.” We have to admit the idea does sound rather refreshing and if you’ve always wanted to play in a band, here’s a good way of emulating that experience.

The game was confirmed back in March where it would be released on the newer consoles. The developers have also targeted Guitar Hero players, telling them that their older instruments would be compatible with the game.
