Swatch-Touch-Zero-One-Volleyball-SmartwatchEarlier this year, Swiss watchmaker Swatch announced their very own smartwatch in the form of the STZO. Unlike some of the other smartwatches in the market today, the STZO appears to feature a bright and youthful design as opposed to more “serious” smartwatches like the Moto 360, but with its price tag of $160, it certainly sounds like an affordable wearable for youngsters.

Unfortunately at the time of its announcement, the company did not specify when the watch would be made available, only that it would be released later this year. Well the good news is that according to a recent report from The Wall Street Journal, it has been revealed that the company’s smartwatch will be released this summer.

So far the company has confirmed that Switzerland will be one of two countries the device will be launched in at the start. The other is apparently “one big country” although there were no additional specifics, but we expect that overtime the watch will make its way to other parts of the world.

It has also been revealed that Swatch has come up with their own mobile payments service and has signed agreements with the likes of China UnionPay, a Swiss bank, and a big credit card company. In any case we expect that more details will be revealed closer to its launch, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for it.
