swypeThere are some users who swear by the Swype keyboard, claiming that it helps them type faster than a regular keyboard, although admittedly there is a bit of a learning curve to it. Now if you’re an avid Swype user, you might be interested to learn that the keyboard app has recently been updated to be more efficient than before.

One of the changes the developers have made includes phrase prediction, thus allowing the keyboard to predict two-word phrases. Basically what this means is that if you were to type “how”, the keyboard would then predict you might be interested in completing that sentence with “are you”.

Another new feature that is introduced is easy number entry where symbol suggestions could allow users to quickly type in numbers and even currency symbols. According to the description, “Easy number entry – tapping on keys that have numbers as secondary characters will provide a number / symbol suggestion (i.e. tapping “ejqp” suggests “3:10”, “swpp” suggests “$200”).

The latest update will bump the software version up to 1.9 so if you haven’t already updated the app, head on over to the Google Play Store to get your hands on it. Unfortunately it seems that for now, the update only applies to the Android version of the app so for those using it on their iOS devices, you guys will have to wait.
