Ubisoft first confirmed that Tom Clancy’s The Division was in the pipeline back at E3 2013. It was to be an open-world shooter set in New York City following the collapse of the U.S. government after a viral pandemic hits the country. The last update we got on this title was that it may be released at some point in 2015. Ubisoft has now revealed that it has tapped another studio to help with the development of Tom Clancy’s The Division.

Existing teams that are already working on this title include Red Storm in the U.S., Massive Entertainment in Sweden and UK-based Ubisoft Reflections. Joining the team is Ubisoft Annecy, a studio based in France that most recently worked on Assassin’s Creed multiplayer titles.

Dispelling the notion that too many cooks spoil the broth, Ubisoft Annecy studio manager Rebecka Coutaz says “The collaboration with the other studios is going very smoothly, and we’re working together to ensure we meet and exceed the high expectations players have for this new title.”

Ubisoft hasn’t revealed exactly what the new team member’s role is now with regards to the development of Tom Clancy’s The Division, but given that Annecy’s strong suit is multiplayer, it’s likely that they’ll help out with the multiplayer features of the title.

This isn’t the first time that multiple team members have worked together for one Ubisoft game, Assassin’s Creed Unity was actually a group effort that involved ten different Ubisoft teams.
