whatsapp-logo-newWhatsApp is easily one of the most popular messaging platforms at the moment. We know that the company was bought over by Facebook for a whopping $19 billion, and last we checked the platform boasted 800 million active monthly users. That being said there’s definitely more to the company than meets the eye.

For those who might be interested in WhatsApp, an infographic about the company was recently released and along with it, hopefully there might be some information there about WhatsApp that you might not know about, starting with the fact that WhatsApp’s 800 million user base grew from what seems to be almost pure word of mouth.

Apparently the company has not spent a single dollar on marketing. Instead the company has focused on creating a pure messaging experience, although Facebook could turn the service into a marketing platform but that remains to be seen. It has also been revealed that about 30 billion messages gets sent and received via the platform on a daily basis, with users sharing 200 million voice notes everyday as well.

It has also been estimated that the average amount of time spent by WhatsApp users is about 195 minutes on a weekly basis. The app also seems to be particularly popular in Argentina with 84% of mobile phone users using the platform. Pretty cool stuff, huh?
