Acer_Chromebase_Front_Facing_Left-630x574When we think of Chrome OS, we usually think of Chromebooks but given that the platform will run fine on any machine that supports it, why not desktop computers too, right? For those who would much prefer a desktop equivalent of Chrome OS, you might be interested to learn that Acer has recently taken the wraps off their 21.5-inch Chromebase DC221HQ computer.

As you can see in the image above, the new computer looks like your typical all-in-one desktop setup, with the main difference here being that it will run on Chrome OS, but other than that it seems that the device will be priced similarly to Chromebooks meaning that it will be a rather affordable purchase.

Acer_Chromebase_Front_Left_AngleThe Chromebase device will sport a 21.5-inch Full HD display with the option of a touch ready model that will be priced slightly higher. It will be powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 processor and will be accompanied by 4GB of RAM, and given that we have seen similar processor pairings in previous Chromebooks, we reckon it should have no issues.

Acer is expected to put their new Chromebase computers up for sale later this month where it will be available in either a white or black finish. The base model will be priced at $329 while the touch-ready model will go for a slightly higher price of $429.
