Rocksteady is finally going to release Batman: Arkham Knight on June 23rd, the title has already been delayed multiple times and since it ends the trilogy fans have been anxiously waiting for it to arrive. Thankfully there won’t be any delays and the title will be out on Tuesday, but if you happen to own a PlayStation 4 you should brace yourself for a hefty day-one patch which must be installed before you can get down to taking on bad guys with our favorite caped crusader.

Batman: Arkham Knight on PlayStation 4 has a big day-one patch. How big you ask? The day-one patch weighs 3.5GB, according to the accompanying notes it brings the Rival Points feature as well as the original Batman skin. There’s even support for future DLC as well as the usual slew of performance and stability fixes.

It hasn’t been confirmed as yet if similar patches will be sent out for this title on the Xbox One and PC, both platforms will receive the title on June 23rd as well alongside the PlayStation 4.

Day-one patches are gradually becoming the norm with big titles as they’re a way for developers to add functionality and make fixes after the discs have been packed and shipped.

For gamers though it can prove to be a nuisance since they first have to wait for this huge file to download and install before they can start playing the game that they have been looking forward to for months.
