new_bg_gameEarlier this year it was revealed that the folks at Beamdog were working on a new Baldur’s Gate game that would continue to rely on the original Infinity Engine. Granted it’s very dated but there’s a certain charm to it that we’re sure many gamers can appreciate. Well the good news is that the announcement could be soon.

This is according to a recent post on the Baldur’s Gate website in which a countdown timer was revealed that is counting down to the 9th of July. Taking a peek at the source code on the website also referenced a game codenamed “Adventure Y”, which was something that Beamdog had teased earlier this year as well.

According to Beamdog’s Ben Arledge earlier this year, the game is meant to bridge the gap between the first and second installments of the Baldur’s Gate titles, so in essence this will be a filler of sorts as opposed to starting on a completely brand new journey which we guess isn’t really a bad thing either.

To date Beamdog has released enhanced versions of Baldur’s Gate 1 and Baldur’s Gate 2, and last we heard the studio had not ruled out the possibility of a third installment which we suppose could be this. In any case we guess all will be revealed come 9th of July so check back with us then for the details.
