onstar-theft-alertChevrolet has just made an announcement concerning the Theft Alarm Notification feature, where this will be an enhancement to the current Stolen Vehicle Assistance service. In other words, OnStar subscribers are able to pick up a real-time alert whenever the vehicle’s alarm sounds, and only eligible subscribers will be able to gain access to this feature as this summer progresses.

No doubt that we will see the Theft Alarm Notification feature as another enhancement to OnStar’s current security features, where among them include Remote Ignition Block and Stolen Vehicle Slowdown. Theft Alarm Notification will let OnStar subscribers have the opportunity to opt in in order to pick up an alert via three choices – text, email or phone, should someone with less than noble intentions make an attempt at your ride that triggers the vehicle’s alarm system, and the alarm starts to blare.

Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing, shared, “Prompt response and quick awareness of theft situations give customers a greater chance to recover stolen property. By leveraging the connection that OnStar provides, Chevrolet owners can remain in contact with their vehicle, even when it is out of sight.”

OnStar advisors will also cooperate alongside local authorities and make use of GPS technology in order to pinpoint the vehicle’s location should the legally equipped Chevrolet be stolen, and should conditions be safe in selected models, advisors can even send a signal that slows down the vehicle, so that police officers in the vicinity will be assisted in its recovery – and doing away with the dangers of a high-speed chase.
