chrome-android-updateGoogle did parade the rather impressive “Now on Tap” feature over at their recently concluded Google I/O not too long ago, and apparently, that feature will make its way to Android M only, and is not part of the existing developer preview. In other words, it will not be so soon until us ordinary folk manage to get our hands on it. Well, it seems that Google has revealed a new feature for Chrome that might bring everyone one step closer to such a feature, as Chrome for Android will now allow one to perform a search for any webpage simply by tapping on a word.

This is made possible because Chrome will be able to be smart enough to figure out just know what page you are on, and it can also know the context of the word which you have highlighted, while having a better idea on the kind of results that you are looking for. Google’s very own demonstration depicted a news article that mentioned the movie Captain America: Civil War, where the user highlights the word “America”, before being dished out the search results for Captain America: Civil War, accompanied by relevant details such as images, cast and release info, among others.

While this feature in Chrome for Android is not going to be as powerful as Now on Tap, as there is no way for it to schedule appointments in your calendar, it is still handy in its own right, don’t you think so? [Press Release]
