It’s been a while since we talked about the PlayStation Plus edition of Driveclub, a free toned-down version of the title that was promised to PlayStation Plus subscribers. However owing to Driveclub’s botched release the plans had to be shelved. Sony last reiterated its commitment to the PS Plus edition back in February and now there’s news that the version is almost ready for release.

Driveclub was launched in October last year and immediately there were so many issues that needed to be fixed that it was decided to postpone the launch of the PlayStation Plus Edition.

Sony had said back in February that while it couldn’t provide a concrete timeframe for the launch, it promised to increase server capacity which would ultimately enable them to launch the PS Plus edition “as quickly as possible.”

Replying to a fan on Twitter, game director Paul Rustchynsky that “We’re in the final stages of development now,” so this brings new hope for people who have been waiting for this version to arrive.

The PS Plus edition obviously won’t offer the entire experience but it will let members get a good look at the title and it’s gameplay, making it much easier for them to decide whether or not they want to put money down for a full copy of Driveclub.
