emirates-blogWhile wireless charging isn’t truly wireless charging in the sense that you can walk around while your phone is recharging, it is convenient as you can pick your phone up anytime and work on it, and put it back down and it will charge without having to plug or fiddle with any cables. The mat that allows for wireless charging also means you won’t have to hunt for an extra cable.

The good news is that if you frequently fly with Emirates and have somehow managed to work your way into their lounges, you might be interested to learn that the airlines company has decided to adopt the Qi wireless charging standard and will install the wireless chargers inside their lounge in Dubai.

According to a statement released by the company, “Travellers can experience the convenience of wireless charging throughout the lounges where the chargers are located in highly visible locations and can accommodate up to two phones at a time. This new offering is another step in Emirates’ strategic plan to offer greater mobility and connectivity to its customers.”

Unfortunately it seems that it will only be limited to their Dubai lounges for now, and for those wondering, nope this will not be based on Qi’s updated wireless charging standard which is supposed to be just as fast as Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0, but either way we suppose if it saves you the hassle of looking for a power outlet and digging through your bag for a cable, it should be good enough!
