SuggestedTopicsStatus updates are usually personal and is used to share your mood, your thoughts, your feelings, or share topics of interest with your friends and family members. However according to a report from SocialTimes, it seems that Facebook is currently testing out a new feature in which the social network wants to suggest status updates on your behalf.

Now we know that not everyone is inclined to share their updates all the time, but apparently Facebook wants its users to be more proactive. The reports claim that in the test, they are seeing “Suggested Topics” appear in their status update boxes. These topics will vary ranging from random topics to topics that are clearly hot at the moment.

It also seems that the suggested topics are based on what you do on Facebook, similar to how your News Feed is generated based on topics that Facebook thinks you might be interested in from your previous browsing activities. In fact recently it was revealed that Facebook plans on ranking posts based on how long you spend on it.

That being said it should be noted that Facebook runs tests from time to time to try out new features and see how they are received. It is not a guarantee that this will actually rollout to all of Facebook’s users but in the meantime what do you guys think? Are suggested status updates something you might be interested in?
