If you’re a fan of horror games, chances are you might have heard of the Fatal Frame franchise. Heck, there was even a movie developed based on the game last year. For those unfamiliar, Fatal Frame is a horror game in which the player has to go around exploring clues while at the same time encountering various spirits which they can “defeat” by taking its photo.

The franchise’s arrival on the Wii U made perfect sense thanks to the console’s GamePad and if you’re wondering when you might see a new title, wonder no more as Nintendo has made a surprise announcement for Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water. This was not announced at E3 but rather on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.

This isn’t a new game per se, but rather the North American/European release of the Japanese version of the game. In Japan the game is known as Fatal Frame: Oracle of the Sodden Raven and was released in September 2014 but only for the Japanese market, so it looks like this will be localized version that gamers can look forward to in the near future.

We’re not sure why Nintendo did not make a big fuss about this considering the popularity of the franchise, but we suppose it’s still better than nothing. The game will be arriving on the Wii U console later this year during the fall, but no specific dates have been mentioned.
