samsung-galaxy-s5-review-027While Samsung’s current focus is probably on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, it looks like the company still has some use for its older models, like the Galaxy S5. According to the folks at SamMobile, they have heard from their sources that Samsung could be working on a Galaxy S5 variant.

The variant in question is the Galaxy S5 Neo which is basically a slightly less powerful version of its current flagship smartphone from 2015. What kind of specs are we talking about? Well for starters if the rumors are to be believed, the Galaxy S5 Neo will feature a 5.1-inch Full HD display.

It is expected to pack 2GB of RAM under the hood and will come with 16GB of storage, a 2,800mAh battery, and is expected to come with the same dimensions and weight as the Galaxy S5. However it will be powered by an Exynos 7580 chipset and its camera has also been upgraded to a 5MP front-facing camera, but the rear-facing camera will remain the same at 16MP.

There has also been speculation that the phone could come in a dual SIM model which seems to be pretty popular in emerging markets. No word on whether the Galaxy S5 Neo will see a launch stateside, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled all the same. Until then we suggest you take it with a grain of salt for now.
