htc-one-m9-live-5The HTC One M9 is the company’s current flagship smartphone and it was released only a few months ago, but it turns out that at least as far as one carrier in Canada is concerned, it isn’t doing well enough for it to warrant continue being sold. The reports claim that Koodo, a carrier in Canada, has discontinued the HTC One M9 due to lackluster sales.

Now it has been suggested that perhaps some of Koodo’s stores will still have some units left in stock but as far its website is concerned, it does not look like the carrier is listing the handset anymore. In fact it seems that despite being older by about 2-3 years, the carrier is still offering up the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4, which certainly says a lot about the HTC One M9.

It is unclear as to why the HTC One M9 has been doing so badly. A possibility is that companies such as Samsung with bigger marketing budgets and a stronger reputation have overshadowed them. Another possibility is that the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 and the various reports of it overheating have put some customers off, even though there hasn’t really been any complaints of the HTC One M9 experiencing overheating.

Another possibility could be that the hardware of the HTC One M9 isn’t as spectacular compared to other brands. For example the HTC One M9 had recently received two updates over the course of several months to improve its camera quality, something that other OEMs never really had to do.

Of course there are other carriers who are still offering the handset but if you are planning on getting it from Koodo, perhaps you’ll want to look elsewhere.
