Back in 2013 we brought you word of an external camera flash designed for smartphones dubbed the iblazr. Well it looks like the company behind the original iblazr is back and this time round they are introducing the successor to the original gadget, which is dubbed the iblazr 2 and with it comes improvements and new features.

Most noticeably is unlike the original, the iblazr 2 ditches the 3.5mm audio jack plug. Instead it now relies on Bluetooth connectivity to sync with your smartphone and there is also a little clip that you can use to clip it onto your smartphone. This gives users the freedom of positioning the flash however they want. They can even hold it in their hands and angle it or bounce it.

The design of the device is also more or less the same as the original. It will feature a 2×2 grid of LED lights that can beam a 300 LUX flash, which according to its creators is double that of your smartphone’s LED flash. There is also adjustable settings where users can change the temperature of the flash from 3200K to 5600K.

We should also point out that despite it marketed as a smartphone flash unit, it will also work with DSLRs so in case your built-in flash wasn’t good enough or if you wanted an additional light source, this could be a cheaper solution. The company is also bundling a silicon diffuser that will help reduce the harshness of the flash.

Just like iblazr, iblazr 2 has been launched on Kickstarter. The company has managed to surpass their funding goal so if you’d like to get your hands on one, you can still do so by popping on over to their Kickstarter page and pledging your support.
