intel core irisWhile onboard GPUs in computers and laptops used to get a pretty bad rep when it came to gaming, this has started to change with Intel’s Iris graphics. Granted you still wouldn’t be able to run games like Crysis in Ultra settings, but it still has come a pretty long way from how default GPUs used to be.

This allowed gamers using laptops to game on the go with a decent gameplay experience. Well the good news is that the company has recently announced a new batch of fifth-gen Core processors that will come with the Iris Pro 6200 graphics. There are five new models to choose from with the flagship model being the Core i7-5775-C which according to Intel, will replace the Core i7-4790S.

The company is promising that it will be able to deliver 35% better media performance and 2x better graphics than its predecessor, so that is something users will want to take note of. It is also priced at $366. As for laptops, users can look forward to the Intel Core i7-5950HQ chip which will supposedly double the performance offered by its predecessor.

Of course the Iris graphics won’t be able to beat out higher-end dedicated GPUs but like we said, if you’re in the market for a laptop for mobility purposes and want to do some light gaming, the Iris Pro 6200 should let you do that just fine. Intel expects to see new systems featuring the new fifth-gen processors in the next 30-60 days.
