Gamers might recall that back in 2014, Square Enix Montréal announced a unique take on the Hitman franchise with Hitman GO. For those unfamiliar, Hitman GO is basically a turn-based puzzle sort of game where gamers try to assassinate the target through board game-like mechanics, avoiding guards and taking out your target without being seen.

In essence it is like Hitman, just with different mechanics. It looks like the GO franchise is something the studio wants to capitalize on and has recently announced Lara Croft GO. As you might have surmised by now, Lara Croft GO is more or less similar to Hitman GO in terms of the mechanics, except that this will be based on the Tomb Raider franchise.

According to the description of the game, “Explore the ruins of an ancient civilization, discover hidden secrets and face deadly challenges as you uncover the myth of the Queen of Venom.” The studio was quoted as saying, “Working in close partnership with Crystal Dynamics, we are excited to tap into the nostalgic love we have for the ultimate female adventurer, Lara Croft, and bring you… the Essence of Adventure!”

Lara Croft GO is expected to be released later this year on mobile phones and tablets. No word on pricing but assuming it is anything like Hitman GO, it will probably cost you a couple of bucks and gamers can also expect some in-app purchases such as hints. We have to admit that the trailer looks pretty good and we can’t wait to get our hands on it!
