In a bid to promote its latest flagship smartphone LG attempted to break a Guinness world record for the world’s longest selfie relay chain. The bet has paid off for LG because it has been successful in breaking that record, LG now holds the Guinness world record for the World’s Longest Selfie Relay Chain, and it has the LG G4 to thank for it.

The attempt to break this world record was organized in Mexico City with the help of over 2,500 participants, it took place near the historic Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City over a period of two hours on June 13th.

A Guinness World Record official was present to officiate the proceedings and ensure that everything went by the book, which it did.

LG managed to take a total of 746 individual and group selfies which broke the previous record of 531 consecutive selfies that was set in the United States only last month, the record attempt was supervised by Guinness World Record official Alex Angert.

Event coordinator for LG Electronics Mexico, Daniel Aguilar, said that one selfie was taken approximately 10 seconds and the LG G4 was able to go the distance without requiring a battery charge or swap. “The G4 still had plenty of juice left but we ran out of people,” he said.
