When LG announced the LG G4, in no way did they advertise the handset as being waterproof. In fact if anything, the leather back option on the phone seems to suggest that you should get anything but water on it. However we suppose there are times we might be a bit clumsy and drop our phones into water, so how will the LG G4 hold up?

YouTuber Harris Craycraft has decided to put it to the test by dunking the LG G4 under 4-inches of water for a grand total of 2 hours. Yup, you read that right, not 30 minutes, not an hour, but two hours. By now you would think that the phone would have been destroyed beyond repair, right?

Amazingly enough you would be wrong. It turns out that the LG G4 survived underwater for all two hours. Of course given that the video was sped up we can’t be sure if it really did survive for two hours, but if it did then color us impressed! Apparently this had to do with the tight sealing on the back of the phone.

However water did managed to seep through but oddly enough no damage was done. Craycraft then put the phone and its battery inside a bag of rice to help dry it out and once that was done, the phone continued to work just fine. Now we don’t suggest you go ahead and try this for yourself, but if anything it seems to indicate that the LG G4 should be able to withstand brief immersion in water in the event of an accident.
