It’s no secret that Unreal Engine 4 is a very pretty engine. We’ve seen it used to recreate games to see what they would look like if they had used the engine, and if you’re wondering what Mario would look like, you’re in luck. YouTuber aryoksini has managed to recreate Mario using the Unreal Engine 4 and we have to admit it looks pretty damn good.

According to aryoksini, “All the environment assets were taken from the Unreal marketplace, all the character actions were scripted using blueprints only, all animations were re-created from scratch as well as the PBR ready textures.” We have to admit that’s a lot of work involved but the results are worth it.

Given that Nintendo was never a company to focus on graphics, it’s nice to wonder what it would be like if the company were to prioritize the quality of its graphics over gameplay, however we suppose that Mario and all the other Nintendo franchises probably wouldn’t be what they are today if they had, right?

Now as aryoksini as pointed out, everything in the video was scripted meaning that there is no demo available so don’t expect to be able to play this particular mod anytime soon. However Unreal Engine 4 is available for licensing by Epic Games so if you’re up for it, maybe you could make one for yourself!
