mirrors_edge111As fans of the Mirror’s Edge franchise are probably familiar with by now, the game’s sequel Mirror’s Edge 2 will be launched in 2016. However could it be that the developers have another game planned even before the second game is released? It turns out that might be a possibility, thanks to a recent trademark filing in Europe.

The filing was originally discovered by the folks at NeoGAF (via Videogamer) which reveals the title to be “Mirror’s Edge Catalyst”. Unfortunately apart from the Mirror’s Edge name, not much else is known about the game or what it could represent. Now some have speculated that the game could be a mobile version tie-in which we suppose could be a possibility.

An alternative theory is that Mirror’s Edge Catalyst could simply be the full name of Mirror’s Edge 2 that will launch next year. So far the game has been referred to as Mirror’s Edge 2 and to date EA has yet to announce any other name for it or bothered to correct anyone about it either. However we suppose since it has yet to be released, things like the titles are subject to change.

In any case with E3 coming up soon, perhaps we might know more then as EA is also expected to share additional details about the Mirror’s Edge franchise, so be sure to check back with us during E3 for the updates!
