It has been a while since Google released the Android 5.1 update for smartwatches powered by Android Wear, almost all of the currently available smartwatches that run on this platform have received the update with the exception of Moto 360. The Moto 360 Android 5.1 update has been delayed due to various issues but there’s good news for those who have been waiting for it, Google is releasing this update for the Moto 360 today.

This has been confirmed by Google’s Wayne Piekarski via a Google+ post that the company is finally sending out Android 5.1 for Moto 360 later today.

Android 5.1 for Android Wear smartwatches brings loads of new features for compatible smartwatches. Features such as cloud sync, Wi-Fi connectivity, always-on applications and much more are included.

There’s even a built-in lockscreen that’s included in Android 5.1 so it’s going to be a life saver for those users who are prone to accidentally activating their smartwatches.

Many Moto 360 owners have undoubtedly been waiting for this update to arrive and their wait ends today. Given that the update is going to arrive over-the-air it will not go live for everybody at the same time.

Some patience will be required as the update goes live across all markets but Moto 360 owners can finally rest assured that Android 5.1 is certainly on its way for their smartwatch.
