netflixRecently it was reported that Netflix could be testing out ads as such a feature was spotted on Netflix for the Xbox platform. Those ads weren’t really ads per se as they were merely promotions for Netflix’s other shows, although given the company’s statement at that time which was a bit vague, it left many wondering if third-party ads could be a possibility.

Like we mentioned earlier, third-party ads would no doubt be a lucrative route for Netflix, but thankfully that will not be happening anytime soon. Speaking to The Next Web, Netflix spokesman Cliff Edwards denied that third-party ads would be arriving on the video streaming platform.

According to Edwards, “We are not planning to test or implement third-party advertising on the Netflix service. For some time, we’ve teased Netflix originals with short trailers after a member finishes watching a show. Some members in a limited test now are seeing teases before a show begins. We test hundreds of potential improvements to the service every year. Many never extend beyond that.”

The company’s CEO Reed Hastings also shot down rumors about third-party ads on his Facebook page by saying, “No advertising coming onto Netflix. Period. Just adding relevant cool trailers for other Netflix content you are likely to love.” So there you have it, if one of the things you loved about Netflix was its ad-free content, you can rest assured knowing that nothing will be changing anytime soon.
