Nexus 7 Gets Android 5.1.1 Factory Image

nexus-7-2-review--020Nexus 7 owners, here is some bit of news that ought to make your day. So you have been having your fair share of fun with this flagship model from Google, but wished that it could be pushed to the next level? Well, fret no longer, as it looks as though Google has just rolled out an updated Android 5.1.1 factory image. To make sure that it is the right update, do make sure that it comes with the build number LMY48G, where it is meant to be installed on the Nexus 7 (2013). Not too shabby, considering how this is the second year of the device in the market already.

No official changelog has been offered at the moment for us to go through all of the changes one by one, but chances are this would mean it is a minor release – with the main purpose of fixing what are some niggling issues that have plagued earlier builds. Right now, it looks as though the update is made available only for the Wi-Fi model of the device, additional and other devices in the Nexus range might also pick it up down the road. Factory images tend to target just Android developers and enthusiasts, and are required to be applied manually, making them different from Over The Air (OTA) updates.
