paypal-galaxy-s5For the most part you can rest assured when you’re making purchases over the internet using services such as PayPal. This is because the company acts as an intermediary between you and the seller and will also provide insurance in the event that the transaction turns out to be bogus.

However PayPal Protection used to only apply to tangible goods, like goods you could touch and hold like a tablet, smartphone, camera, and etc. The good news is that it looks like PayPal Protection has been updated and will now apply to intangible purchases, such as products or services purchased over the internet like apps, movie downloads, music, and so on.

According to PayPal, “We’re extending our purchase protection to cover intangibles (services, digital goods, travel, event tickets and other intangible items). Beginning with transactions that take place on July 1, 2015 and after, we’ll review buyer disputes regarding intangible items where the customer claims they have not received the item or service, or if the service or goods are not as described.”

Now as noted by the Guardian, PayPal’s intangible purchase protection has been available in the UK for over a year now, but they are finally bringing it stateside which is good news for shoppers in the US. Like the policy reads, the new protection policy will go into place come 1st of July 2015.
