We usually don’t think too much of the box that our pizzas are delivered in. Their main purpose is to hold our pizza but once that’s done, we just squash it and throw it away. Perhaps looking to give these boxes more functionality, Pizza Hut’s ad agency Ogilvy & Mather Group have created the Blockbuster Box.

Basically what this is is a pizza box that has the ability to double up as a projector. This is thanks to an included lens that will help project images, and a small plastic stand that will prop your smartphone up to help transmit those images through the lens. We reckon the lens and stand might get a little oily during transit but that’s nothing a little elbow grease can’t fix.

Once you’re done with your pizza, or while you’re eating your pizza, you just need to punch a small hole in the box to fit the lens, prop up your smartphone, and you can enjoy movies on your mobile device while eating your pizza. If you have nothing on your phone worth watching, there will be a scannable code that will unlock viewable content.

Unfortunately it seems that at the moment, the Blockbuster Box is a Hong Kong exclusive so if you’re hoping to see this feature stateside, you might be disappointed, but perhaps if it is popular enough, Pizza Hut could decide to bring it to other parts of the world.
