Since Samsung has not yet provided official sales figures for its latest flagship handsets there has been a lot of speculation about how they have performed so far in the market. The company recently rubbished reports about sales not meeting expectations, instead it was reported that the performance of these handsets is in line with Samsung’s internal targets. Counterpoint Research is out with a new prediction today, saying that Samsung will be able to sell 50 million units of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge combined in 2015.

The 50 million figure has been predicted by several analysts in the past as well, while some have been more optimistic, claiming that Samsung could sell as many as 70 million units combined by the end of this year.

If this prediction of 50 million units is true, it would certainly set a new bar for Samsung’s Galaxy S lineup, even if it won’t be enough to overshadow the total number of iPhones that Apple is able to sell by the end of this year, which many expect to be significantly more than the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones have received a lot of praise, and they have performed reasonably well, though we await the official figures from the company to be really sure of where it’s high-end smartphone sales are heading.

Expect the company to talk about this tomorrow at the Samsung Investors Forum 2015 which is going to take place in Seoul.
