There are many who believe that video games these days are easier than they were back in the day, thanks to developers including features like tutorials and generally giving players many opportunities to succeed. That being said, the classic arcade side-scroller Contra is said to be one of the hardest games of all times, so how will teens of this generation fare?

Well the folks at the REACT channel on YouTube decided to find out by pitting a group of teens against the game. These teens were paired into groups of two so that they could play Contra in co-op mode, which honestly is a lot harder since this will require a lot of coordination from both players, and given that this is the first time that any of them have heard of the game or played it, safe to say the results were hilarious.

Many of the teens who played the game were also confused by the powerups in the game and actively tried to avoid them as they thought it was an enemy unit, something we think that veteran gamers should know, especially if you’ve played games like Raiden where powerups like that were aplenty. That being said we suppose to be fair, we reckon give them a couple of hours and they should have no trouble adjusting themselves to its gameplay.

Unsurprisingly many weren’t fans of the graphics and they expressed how frustrated they were playing it, but with Contra being thought of as being one of the hardest games of all time, we’re sure even old school gamers can empathize with their frustration. In any case if you have a few minutes to spare, check it out in the video above.
