Uber is a pretty good option for you if you’ve been out on the town at night and are in no state to drive, the ridesharing service claims to be cheaper than conventional taxis in some cases and while there’s a difference of opinion on this claim, there’s no denying the fact that Uber has been expanding at an exponential pace and doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Perhaps that’s why it’s not able to take you across continents as well.

The company’s intercontinental service is technically limited to just one city, but at least it makes for great marketing speak.

Uber has joined forces with water taxi operators in Istanbul, a unique city that spans across two continents, to permanently launch its UberBoat service in Istanbul in order to ferry passengers back and forth between Europe and Asia through the infamous Bosphorus strait.

Users in Istanbul will see the UberBoat option when they stand near the coastline of the city’s waterway with trips being made in Beneteau boats.

Residents cross the strait multiple times every single day with public ferries offering the service as little as $0.81, there are also two suspension bridges and an underground metro tunnel so Uber is not exactly doing something out of the ordinary.

It does however present a more, peaceful shall we say, option for the multitude of tourists who visit Istanbul every year and cross the strait as just another activity on their vacation, they’ll be able to hire an UberBoat for rides starting at $19 with a capacity of up to 10 people, so the more people there are the cheaper it would cost per person.
