lumia-535Last year Microsoft announced the Lumia 535 Windows Phone handset. However at that time, the phone was not available officially in the US. If you wanted to get your hands on it, you’d have to order it through a grey import website or non-official retailers. Well the good news is that if you weren’t comfortable doing that, Microsoft is now selling the phone officially.

The Lumia 535 is now available for purchase in the US officially and it is available directly from Microsoft’s website. It is priced at $149 for a fully unlocked handset meaning that you won’t need to deal with contracts with carriers, although you would need a line if you don’t have one already.

With a price tag of $149, it is obvious that this is an entry-level handset. However Microsoft/Nokia has had a lot of success with entry-level devices, especially the Lumia 520 which is widely regarded as the best-selling Windows Phone handset of all time, and that was more than 2 years ago!

Now just in case you missed our earlier announcement of the device, the Lumia 535 will come with a 5-inch display. Its resolution will be a tad low at 540×960 but we suppose that was done in order to lower its price. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 clocked at 1.2GHz and will come with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage, a 5MP rear-facing and front-facing camera, and Windows Phone 8.1 running the show.
