whatsapp-logo-newLast month we reported that the voice calling feature of WhatsApp had made its way into the beta version for Windows Phone, hinting that a final release might not be too far off. Now the good news for Windows Phone users is that if you weren’t part of the beta testing program, fret not as the feature has since been released en masse.

If you have yet to update your WhatsApp program on your Windows Phone device, you probably should as the update will bring the feature to your phone. The voice calling feature will function pretty much like any VoIP and will allow you to conduct voice calls to other WhatsApp contacts who have the feature as well.

Along with the voice calling feature, WhatsApp also introduced the sending of audio files for the Windows Phone version, assuming that you are running on Windows Phone 8.1 or higher. The update can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store so head on over if you haven’t downloaded it already.

Voice calling was a feature that was rolled out earlier this year for both iOS and Android devices. Android owners were lucky as they received the feature first before it eventually made its way onto iOS, and now finally Windows Phone users will be able to see what all the fuss is about.
