dropbox-requests

Dropbox is expanding its feature set today with a new addition that will allow anyone you choose to upload files to your Dropbox account. The new feature is called File Requests and it will allow people who don’t have a Dropbox account to share files via the cloud with those who do. Dropbox account holders can open this feature up to anybody they want and they will then be able to upload files into a folder that the account holder chooses.

There’s a simple user interface on Dropbox.com/requests through which account holders can point out the kind of files that they want, like photos or documents, a link will then be generated which can be shared with other people.

This lets them upload those files, photos or documents straight to your Dropbox account without having to sign up for the service. Besides that, they can send files as larger 2GB which can’t obviously be done over email.

Users can take advantage of this feature in a variety of ways, for example if they’re collecting bids from contractors, all they have to do is specify the file type and have any contractor directly upload the bid into their Dropbox account.

Dropbox Requests feature is rolling out today for Dropbox Basic and Pro users, the company is going to roll this feature out for its business customers in the coming weeks.
