youtube-gamingIt looks like the folks over at YouTube are starting to get more and more serious where gaming is concerned, and this summer should see the launch of YouTube Gaming. YouTube Gaming happens to be a spanking new app as well as website that has been specially dedicated to video game content; namely Let’s Plays, livestreams, and speedruns, among others.

YouTube Gaming product manager Alan Joyce breaks it down pretty simply, “YouTube Gaming is built to be all about your favorite games and gamers, with more videos than anywhere else. From ‘Asteroids’ to ‘Zelda,’ more than 25,000 games will each have their own page, a single place for all the best videos and live streams about that title. You’ll also find channels from a wide array of game publishers and YouTube creators.”

YouTube Gaming intends to be unique as it was specially built from the ground up for gamers, and by gamers, and it looks as though the future of gaming will see a slew of content being streamlined into its very own categories so that gamers will no longer feel lost whenever they are browsing through a range of gaming content. This is made possible as users subscribe to channels that they like, before being notified of livestreams whenever they begin.

Expect YouTube Gaming to launch in the US and UK later this summer.
