toyota tacomWhen it comes to recording action sequences and sports, the GoPro is more or less the de facto choice amongst filmmakers. This is largely thanks to the camera being small and light enough, sturdy enough, and its accessories such as camera mounts and waterproof housings make for a very compelling purchase.

In fact Toyota thinks so as well and has recently announced that with the company’s 2016 Toyota Tacoma truck, they will be including a GoPro mount by default in the vehicle. Granted the accessory which probably costs like $40 is a drop in the water when compared to how much the truck actually costs, but the partnership with GoPro and the default inclusion of the mount would no doubt appeal to certain types of customers.

According to Michael Sweers, the Tacoma’s chief engineer, he noted that in the last five years, the company started noticing more truck owners mounting cameras in their vehicles. “These true off-roaders are out there, and they all have GoPros on their trucks. Whether they’re fishing, off-roading, camping and so on, they’re all recording their adventures.”

Sweers also notes, “We’re not in the business of selling cameras, and we’re not in the business of dictating to our customers what they have to use. It just made sense to try to team up with GoPro because that’s what our customer base is using.”
