dadssWe did make mention of the DADSS (Driver Alcohol Detection System for Safety) system before just early last month, but it seems that DADSS is about to play a far larger role in society in due time. New York Senator Chuck Schumer announced on Sunday that he was co-sponsoring a bill to fund Driver Alcohol Detection System for Safety (DADSS).

With strong backing from the US Senate, things should get moving. Just to refresh our memories, DADSS happens to be a kind of technology that is capable of determining whether a driver is drunk or not, and this can be achieved without the need for a breathalyzer.

This particular bill that is being sponsored is known as The Research of Alcohol Detection Systems for Stopping Alcohol-Related Fatalities Everywhere Act, where DADSS would be on the receiving end of $48 million in funding, and the amount would be disbursed over half a dozen years.

Schumer shared, “There is a technology that could pretty much put drunk driving, and drunk-driving deaths and injuries, to an end, [and] it’s on the shelf. We have to perfect it so it’s usable in every car, and have it work.” Do you think that DADSS will be able to drastically cut down injuries and deaths from drunk driving if it were to be fully implemented?
