apple-pay-uk-launch
Folks across the pond who have been anxiously waiting for Apple Pay to arrive should probably see it fit to mark their calendars because it appears that the payments service will soon be going live in the United Kingdom. Apple has already confirmed that Apple Pay will go live in the UK this summer but it didn’t provide a confirmed release date, a leaked internal document from an unnamed British retailer points towards July 14th as the possible launch date for this payments service.

Once Apple Pay goes live in the country it will be available to all iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch users who want to pay without having to take their cards out of their wallets.

At launch the new payments service will be supported at more than 250,000 payment terminals all across the United Kingdom since tap-to-pay equipment is already installed at many merchant locations and those systems are compatible with Apple Pay.

Moreover quite a few banks have already confirmed support for Apple Pay which include the likes of Natwest, Nationwide, First Direct, Santander, HSBC and many others.

Apple Pay users in London have an added advantage, they will be able to use the payments service on the city’s transport system as well.

The United Kingdom would thus become Apple Pay’s first international market with Canada expected to come next in the coming months.
