Chromecast-2nd-Bday-640x458While the Google Chromecast is a tiny device, it certainly has revolutionized the way we consume our content to a degree. In fact last we heard, Google had managed to sell over 10 million Chromecast units and all of this has been done without Google making any hardware upgrades to it.

That being said, it has been 2 years since the Chromecast was launched and to celebrate the device’s 2nd birthday, Google has recently announced a promotion in which they will be giving away a free movie rental to Chromecast owners. This will apply to current owners and future owners, as long as they redeem their offer before the 31st of December 2015.

The good news is that this offer will apply to both the standard and HD versions of movies, so obviously we can only assume that users will want to get in on it. There are some limitations though and that is not every movie will be available for rent. Google has put together a list of movies that are more recent/popular so you can check it out here.

It should also be noted that the offer will only apply to those living in the US, so if you’re living overseas and you have a Google Chromecast, sorry to disappoint. In the meantime if you’d like to find out how to claim your offer, turn on your Chromecast, connect it via the Chromecast extension, and head on over to the Chromecast website for the details.
