trump hotelIn the recent years there seems to have been an increase in credit card breaches. We’ve seen large restaurant chains such as Chick-Fil-A experience a breach, and it was just last year that Target themselves were found to have a breach, and now it seems that the latest breach comes courtesy of Donald Trump’s Trump Hotels.

According to a report from Brian Krebs, it seems that the Trump Hotels might have experienced a breach in their security. While a breach has yet to be fully confirmed, suspicious activity has been spotted and acknowledged with a statement from Eric Trump who is the executive vice president of development and acquisitions.

The statement from Trump reads, “Like virtually every other company these days, we have been alerted to potential suspicious credit card activity and are in the midst of a thorough investigation to determine whether it involves any of our properties. We are committed to safeguarding all guests’ personal information and will continue to do so vigilantly.”

The report states that according to sources from several banks, there has been traces of fraudulent activity found on debit and credit cards that were also previously used at Trump Hotels, suggesting that the breach might have originated from there which is how the debit/credit cards were used illegally. This issue seems to have gone as far back as February 2015 earlier this year.

Like we said there seems to be an increase in credit card theft these days and magnetic-stripe based cards like the ones primarily used in the US are the primary target. In any case hopefully this will be resolved soon, but if you have recently stayed at any of Donald Trump’s hotels, perhaps you’ll want to keep an eye on your credit card activities.
