exploding-kittensExploding Kittens, the most backed Kickstarter project of all time when we talked about it earlier this year, has started to see the card game ship. Just how huge was the funding? Well, with an original funding goal of just $10,000, it seems that the entire Kickstarter project managed to gather a whopping $9 million down the road.

Elan Lee and Shane Small of Xbox has worked with Matthew Inman, the person who is the driving force behind the much adored comic site The Oatmeal, and Exploding Kittens was born. Exploding Kittens was said to be a “highly strategic kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette” and with more than 200,000 pledgers, we are pleased as punch to say that the game is waiting to ship to its backers.

Apparently, the cards themselves cost $15 to make and ship, and by selling them for $20, not much profit is there for the taking to make it worthwhile – unless there is a really huge volume in terms of demand, of course. Not to mention that there are other headaches such as varying tax rates in different regions and the ilk. There are plans, however, for expansion decks as well as modifier cards depending on the feedback received in a playtest a few months back.
