htc-grip-3At MWC 2015 earlier this year, HTC unveiled their very first wearable in the form of the HTC Grip. This is a fitness band that was created in collaboration with fitness brand Under Armour. The device was launched in March but fast forward four months later, its availability is still unknown, although recently a sighting at the Bluetooth SIG seems to suggest it is still being worked on.

That being said if you’re wondering about when the HTC Grip would officially be released, unfortunately you could still be in for a wait as HTC has officially announced that it has been delayed. According to the company, HTC has pushed the release of the fitness band to “later this year” but did not provide any specifics about a release date.

According to HTC, “Through our partnership with Under Armour, we have continued to refine our vision and approach to the health and fitness category. Our goal is to offer best-in-class products for our customers and partners. After extensive wear testing and user feedback, we have decided to align GRIP with the entire product portfolio for health and fitness launching later this year.”

This is admittedly rather unfortunate given that the HTC Grip does look pretty good and has decent specs and features to boot. In a market where there are tons of new wearables being churned out every other week, we’re not sure a delay will be doing HTC any favors. Hopefully we will be given a more concrete release date in the near future.
