apple-logo3For those who are wondering how Apple’s iPhones are doing, especially amongst the competition and the possibility that were are only months away from learning about the new ones, it seems that they are still doing pretty well. According to a recent investors note by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, iPhone shipments are still up.

In fact according to the numbers provided by Kuo, he has estimated that for the last quarter, Apple’s iPhone shipments were up by 54%. To be more specific, Kuo estimated that there were about 54.2 million iPhones shipped in the last quarter ending in June. However when it comes to the iPad, this is when things don’t look so good.

Kuo has estimated that iPad shipments are actually on the decline and saw a decrease of 33.5% in shipments last quarter. However this isn’t too surprising given that tablets aren’t usually refreshed by customers as frequently as smartphones. A report from last week echoed these sentiments, but noted that for the most part, tablet sales are still rising, just not at the rate they used to.

It should be noted that Kuo is offering up these numbers more as an estimate/opinion. Apple’s own official numbers are expected to be reported this coming Tuesday on the 21st of July, but given Kuo’s accuracy in the past, maybe his numbers aren’t too far off from the real thing.
