The iPhone 6 is a smartphone that has a great camera for capturing photos and videos. However like most smartphones, the way the camera is positioned isn’t exactly ideal or ergonomical, at least not if you’re planning on taking yourself seriously. Now if you’re a film enthusiast looking to capture some great videos with your mobile device, then the Lumenati CS1 could be the device for you.

As you can see in the video above, the Lumenati CS1 basically takes your iPhone and turns it into a film camera, or at least gives it that form factor. Before you think that this is just a glorified case, it really isn’t. The CS1 will house your smartphone but it will not actually use your phone to record the footage. Instead it has its own lens and accompanying app, so essentially your phone acts like the “film” that the footage is stored on.

Best of all, the company will offer up multiple types of lenses, so depending on your shooting preference, there is a good chance you will be able to find a lens that suits your needs. The way it has been designed will also make it easier to record videos and there will be accessories created for it, like a handlebar at the top so you can hold it in a different way.

Based on the demos we’ve seen, we have to admit that the footage captured is pretty impressive. The company has managed to raise close to $100,000 of its original $75,000 goal, but there is still time left if you want to get your hands on it and pledge your support.
