nintendo-new-3ds-2014-11If the rumors of the Nintendo NX are true, there is a good chance that we might be able to see the console launched in July of 2016, which conveniently enough is right after E3 which is when Nintendo will officially take the wraps off the console. That being said we’re sure some gamers are wondering what will happen to Nintendo’s other consoles after the NX’s launch?

The good news is that if you have a lot of Wii U or 3DS titles, fret not because the company plans on continuing their support for them. This was confirmed by Nintendo President Satoru Iwata during the company’s 75th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders who reassured investors that the company’s existing consoles would not go neglected.

Iwata said, “While we are preparing NX for the future, we are discussing within our internal development teams as well as with the second-party developers we co-develop software with and also with third-party software publishers about how to continue creating software for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. So, I believe that your point of concern should not happen immediately.”

He also added that support for the Wii U would continue to be supported for as long as possible. “As for Wii U, we will continue to make efforts, as it is a priority within the company to think about how we can satisfy the consumers who purchased this system to the maximum extent possible.”
