Our smartphone has apps that lets us control all sorts of things, like control the lighting in our homes, our music, our phone calls, our messages, and so on. However we would have to launch individual apps to perform these actions, which is what PebbleBee is trying to simplify with a device called Stone.

Stone is a device small enough to hang around a keychain but smart enough to control a variety of functions on your smartphone. Through the use of IFTTT recipes, Stone will be able to control all sorts of things in your life that would otherwise be a job for your smartphone. This includes adjusting the lights in your home, playing music, ordering a pizza, finding your phone, keys, or even your pets.

This is partly thanks to the fact that Stone is also able to double up as a tracker where once it goes out of range, it will alert you, and it will also alert you when it comes back into range, making it great for tracking pets. It also comes with sensors to measure things like the temperature, so potentially you could use it to help set your smart thermostat.

The company has launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for Stone which has since surpassed its original goal of $30,000, but with time to spare, you can go ahead and pledge your support if you are interested.
