umbrella corpsGamers who are a fan of the Resident Evil franchise might be interested to learn that a new game might be in the works. According to reports, it seems that Capcom has registered the name “Umbrella Corps”, which we’re sure many are probably aware that the name belongs to the fictional company in the Resident Evil universe.

That particular name was trademarked in Europe, and recently in Japan the name “Biohazard Umbrella Corps” was also registered. For those unfamiliar, Biohazard is basically what Resident Evil is referred to back in Japan. That being said, that’s at least two references that we know of that are somehow tied to “Umbrella Corps”.

It is unclear as to what kind of game this could be, but the trademark states that it will be for devices like portable consoles, TV home consoles, and even mobile. Of course Capcom could simply be covering their bases in terms of protecting the name, so there’s really no telling at the moment as to what Umbrella Corps could be referring to.

In any case we suppose at the very least it will be a new game of sorts. Whether it be a brand new Resident Evil game or some kind of variant based on Resident Evil remains to be seen, but either way we’ll be keeping an eye out for more information so do check back with us in the future for the details. In the meantime anyone have any idea as to what we might expect?
